Sea Space, the East Sussex economic development company, is presenting
proposals for a wind turbine to power its forthcoming eco-friendly business
parks in Hastings.
Sea Space intends to start construction this winter of the first of
its 'Enviro21 Innovation Parks' at South Queensway on the north-west
outskirts of Hastings. A second Innovation Park nearby at North Queensway
is hoped to follow soon afterwards.
The company is proposing a two mega-watt wind turbine on the 3.47 hectare
South Queensway site to match all the electricity usage for both business
sites and is holding a series of public meetings to answer questions,
explain the scheme and listen to local residents' and businesses' opinions.
The Enviro21 Innovation Parks are designed to attract companies from
the rapidly-growing environmental technologies sector and others wishing
to run a 'green' business. They are to be clustered around the A21 in
Hastings and the proposed Link Road to Bexhill. They are a core element
of the ten-year economic development programme for the area, complementing
the creation of the Priory Quarter business district in Hastings town
centre.
The Enviro21 Innovation Park at South Queensway aims to meet ambitious environmental targets, using the latest techniques and materials to maximise natural resources and renewable energy. It has been designed by architects RH Partnership and sustainability advisors Peter Brett Associates. The consultation is being managed by Stevens Associates.
